The Paris property market however is special. Apartments and houses are marketed by the number of rooms - as opposed to bedrooms - and by the square meterage (from which everyone deduces the relative value by comparing the price per square metre) and of course by the address and the arrondissement. Good size living spaces - over 100 square metres - are rare and especially sought after in all arrondissements. |

Adding to the demand is the fact that, unlike many other European cities, Paris is geographically defined by an encircling ring road and thus has no possibility of expansion. Anything inside "le Peripherique" is Paris (1st to 20th arondissements) and everything outside is and will remain the "banlieue" (suburbs). |

Paris property comes in all shapes, sizes and price per square meter. Whether it be a classic Haussmannian apartment in the heart of the 6th arrondissement, a converted loft in the 11th or a small town house in the 14th there is something for all tastes. One certainty however is that quality property does not stay on the market for very long and it is a difficult proposition to find the right property from a distance. |
